1977 Addrisi Brothers – Slow Dancing Don’t Turn Me On

Dick and Don Addrisi wrote some successful songs and even had a few hits of their own between the late fifties and the early seventies. See my blog for more details:

The next time the brothers hit the charts came when they signed with Buddah Records in 1976 and began recording disco songs. They wrote and sang Slow Dancing Don’t Turn Me On, which became their highest charting single when it reached #20 in 1977.

Naturally, they also recorded a longer version of the song for use at discotheques.

The duo’s most successful song came when they wrote Never My Love, which the Association took to #2 on the Hot 100 in 1967. The Addrisi Brothers recorded three different versions of the song themselves but didn’t release their own single version of the song until after Slow Dancin’ Don’t Turn Me On faded off the Hot 100.

Their slow ballad version of the song underperformed and stopped moving up the Hot 100 when it reached #62, but the third version of their single managed to reach #28 on the Adult Contemporary chart in early 1978.

The brothers continued writing songs together until 1984, the year Don died from complications of pancreatic cancer.

Dick then apparently left the music industry and moved to Buenos Aires.
